Comprehensive Social Skills Coaching Program

Overview:

Social Skills Coaching is provided in a group setting (with some exceptions) one hour per week.

We offer weekly social skills coaching sessions for children/teens. We offer coaching and guidance while children play/hang out, in order to work on their self-confidence, self-esteem, skill building, and to facilitate positive peer-peer interactions. Small group sessions are scheduled at various times during the weekday. Group placement for your child cannot be determined until after the director completes the initial parent meeting and child meeting. Setting your child up in the most appropriate group in which he/she is excited to come and motivated to play with the other group members is very important to us. This is why the group placement is not made until after these meetings. In some situations, we begin by offering individual coaching sessions to prepare a child to be successfully placed in a social group.

Goals for the coaching are formulated as a result of:
1. 90 minute parent interview appointment (If child client)
2. 30-60 minute client intake appointment.
3. Teacher input (if appropriate)
4. School observations (if appropriate)

There is no strict start date and end date to the groups, as each person's goals are developed on in individual basis. We have some who plan to continue social skills coaching long term, addressing difficulties arising from different developmental stages; we have others who come for shorter periods of time to help them through a difficult transition periods.

What is included in the program:

1.  Weekly social skills coaching
2.. Availability of social coach to attend one outside meeting per year (ex: ISP, IEP, SST, etc)
3.
120 minutes per year of parent meeting time
4.  Occasional SCLC social gatherings (movie night, rockclimbing party, etc.) --on hold due to pandemic

5.  Weekly drop in zoom office hour for parents to talk to Noriko as needed

Age:

Groups are available for toddler/Pre-Kindergarten children through adults. Some groups are gender specific and some are not...again, this is based on the client's current needs and goals, not on a set criteria.  Group sizes typically range from 2 to 8 participants. There is a wide range of group size because the participants are placed in a new or existing group based on their age, strengths, and challenges with careful consideration in creating the optimal learning experience for all. It is possible to have individual sessions, if one needs more individualized support in the beginning. This is often the case with adults, who would like to practice and learn new skills without being in a group setting.

Fees:

90 minute initial parent(s)-only intake appointment: $160
30-60 minute initial child/teen intake appointment: $105
Monthly (Four 50-minute sessions/month) social skills coaching sessions: $420/month

Also included in the monthly fee:
-120 minutes per school year of parent meeting time included in the program
-additional parent coaching sessions can be scheduled after using up the 120 minutes at the same rate of $105/50 minutes.
