Individual Social Skills Coaching for Children/Teens
At times, it is appropriate to have social skills coaching sessions individually, rather than or in addition to a group setting. A child may receive individual social skills coaching when:
- It is to supplement the group social skills coaching experience: Having a separate time to talk about specific skills or have the opportunity to reflect on what occurs in the group process can be extremely helpful.
- A child is not ready to be in a group setting, YET: The social skills coach would act more like a peer that the child can learn with and model after, until he/she is ready to enter a small group.
Goals for the coaching are formulated as a result of:
1. 50 minute parent interview appointment (If child client)
2. 25-50 minute client intake appointment.
3. Teacher input (if appropriate)
4. School observations (if appropriate)
-additional parent coaching sessions, school observations, school meeting support can be scheduled.
